And yes, I do keep track of what you and everyone else says on this board. ALL of it is interesting.
But not always for the same reasons.

[Jim] "The moon causes spring and neap tides for reasons not yet discovered ... "
I wonder ... do you imagine that offering this kind of carp [sic] in lieu of an actual explanation of your ideas is a benefit to your effort? People do notice that you have not explained anything.

[Jim] "... the model is very good the spring tide occurs when the Earth, moon and sun are in line. The neap tide occurs when the Earth and moon are in line with the Earth/moon orbit around the sun. If you do a simple arrow model of the forces maybe you can see how this all fits together. And if not its ok you have a good model to predict tides anyway so why bother with this silly bit?"
Would you please re-phrase this, so that your intended meaning is clear?

Lb, If you have a good model for predicting tides why do you want to understand what causes tides-who cares?

Our model does explain what causes tides, as well as providing a method for calculating them in advance.
Your model does not explain what causes tides. It also does not provide a means for calculating them. Past, present or future. It just "feels" that something is wrong with our model.
So. I do in fact find it difficult to care about your model.

LB, You are very clearly happy with your model so have a good time predicting the tides and happy fishing if that is the purpose you have for tide predictions. I really have very little interest in those activites and have no need whatever for information on tides at this time.
