Hello Jim,

This idea of a closed system model has been discussed over the past 100 years. - But it is not a popular model.-

It is easier to find neutrinos and gravitons instead of the actual demise of the "organized" atom.

For the equation itself: E=ma.dt, I have replaced gravity by acceleration. This acceleration varies with the entropy of the atom.
The entropy of the atom varies with its changing potential (or vice versa).

We are able to control (to a certain extent) the entropy of the atom by accelerating ,cooling, heating, or varying the potential of matter.

GD, When you control the atom to a degree how is entrophy changed? Does the atom gain or loose entrophy when it is accelerated or cooled or varying the potential as you say you can do to the atom?

Hi Jim,

Something which is accelerating, or which is hot or cold, is the result of the atom undergoing a potential change. This is what I would call a change in entropy.

example: Lets say we take a steel rod and apply a potential difference across it, this will cause the atoms to actually try to move from one end to the other. If you increase continually this potential change, the rod will get hotter as the pressure builds until it breaks at a weak spot by ejecting molten metal.We can vary or even reverse the current by modifying the circuit.

This pressure or current is similar to what we call "gravity" in Physics. This force is created by a continual change in potential of matter.

In nature on the other hand, the motion of matter seems to be in only one direction: towards higher entropy.

If you were looking to bring together the fields of mechanics or physics with those of electrodynamics, I think this would be it.
All that was needed was to add entropy to the equation.

A rod is not an atom and phase change in a rod from solid to liquid or gas would change the entrophy of the mass of the rod but does that have any effect of an atom? What is the entrophy of the atom during the process you are posting?

A steel rod is not an atom but many atoms, and something the size of the Earth is many more atoms.

Also we induce a controlled phase of the atom in electrical circuits because:
- We want our machines to produce the most work for the available power.

- We want efficient and safe electrical equipement.

- Our power company wants to bill us for every Kw/h we use.

When the atom releases energy (heat), this energy will never be used again, this is the entropy of the atom.

Here are examples of entropy change of the atom in electrical wiring produced by an event or position in the environment.
(Note: electrical wiring is more susceptible to defects than ordinary matter, since it has the additional potential variation we induce in them.)

- Gamma ray bursts produced by solar flares.

- An aircraft flying at an altitude of 10 Km.

At maximum entropy, no electrical signal is possible since the atom is nothing but disorganized heat.
In other words, no signal from Earth could reach a planet at the exact opposite of the galaxy by passing through its axis (or central region of the galaxy.)
