To be honest I've been staring at these strips way too long the past two days. There comes a point when you start doubting yourself. The storm troopers seemed questionable to me at first (as expressed in my original post), and they still might be nothing, but when I saw the larger profile facing them, the coincidence of this design matching the Nefertiti/man lower down in the strip seemed too great to be just a chance occurance. Nonetheless it is true that there's much less detail.
As for rin tin tin, I concede your point since I really just saw it for the first time after reading your last response. It's definitely very canine.

Here's the original contrast and brightness adjusted image of Rin Tin Tin, (and Mother in upper right hand corner) along with the Key for Rinny supplied by Neil.
I think Rin Tin Tin's master, who was a young boy, would have said:
YO.....RINNY!

Do try to keep in mind that readers without broadband are excluded unless posters take care to optimize image sizes. Most single-feature images can be kept under 50k, and context images can be kept under 200k. That's not a rule, just a goal. The link to the original MGS image will allow those who want to process the images themselves and optimize for their own monitors to do so. -|Tom|-

Just in case anyone forgot what the original reason for this thread was, here's a reminder. This image is taken from the original E0501429 strip, enhanced and smoothed.
We're not making this stuff up. Anybody can do it. This is the Girl, The Man, The Woman, and the Dog.

Depending on what image processing program you are using, you might be able do reduce the resolution or the pixels per inch without reducing the size. Also be sure the image is flattened (important for keys) and rendered in grayscale so it doesn't have color info, and is cropped to just the area needed. Another suggestion (again, for the folks without broadband, who mostly can't come in this section because there are too many large images) is to just place a thumbnail here with a link to a better image. -|Tom|-

I'm already five levels deep on that kind of thing. I'm not so sure it would be helpful to the overall purpose of these posts if I were to add another level. I think there would be a sort of diminshing returns.
