It's known under the name of dialectics, which deals with contradictions, opposites, etc.

Tom,
Stupid confused college student here:
Your section about Truth and Reality stumped me. Honestly I couldn't get past the first premise, the definition of reality. You say:
"I therefore propose that we use 'reality' for the unique, common, shared experience of the external world. Then the way individuals experience that reality would be called a 'perception of reality,' which is no longer unique. And a theory or model attempting to describe or predict reality would be a 'description of reality.'"
Humor me. I know this might be ridiculously simple to you, but your definitions seems so vague and contradictory that there must be something I'm not getting.
You define reality as "the unique, common, shared experience of the external world." Your use of unique and common together is what my puny brain can't get past. I can understand that reality could be the... common, shared experience; Likewise, I can understand that reality could be unique to our experience, meaning either everyone experiences reality in their own unique way, or that the common way that we all experience reality, is unique in regards to the universe... I don't know. I'm really just a little confused. Attempting to read your article was a baffling, enlightening experience.
