Sloat, The point is you can do things with math that can't be done in the real world. That's why no one knows why anything works and Alice is more than a kids story. In the real world there is not an electron and thats why no one has seen one.

Sloat, The orbit of a member of a gravity system is either perpetual motion or something else is going on that never gets any notice. If as you say a round orbit is a zero energy motion why does the member remain in that place? It takes force to cause this to happen. In real orbits the members are in a constant tug-of-war like a spring and the orbit is not round so force is changing the orbit. How can force be applied without energy? But, as you say that's what gravity does. BTW, please don't worry too much about the CERN stuff-remember the atom cannot gain energy/mass because energy moves at the speed of light. That means an atom near the speed of light cannot be made to absorb energy and gain whatever properties you fear it might. Too bad they don't start with lead and make gold rather than the other way round.

Hi Jim, I think this one is best left to Tom Van Flandern. Of course none of the planets in our solar system have circular orbits. So they accelerate and work is done. Not a great deal though. I did read someplace how efficient the solar system is, and now i cant find it. it was kilowatts though, not gigawatts.

Sloat, You are right that its a mystery how gravity works-can it be gravity is different than other forces? TVF, wants to resolve that by inventing new particles that obay the rules as other forces do. It seems to me much simpler to just accept gravity as a field rather than a particle. He likes a wave rather than a photon particleand it seems to me the issue is way too tangled to see clearly. The real problem is models are distorting data. There is a "we make it fit" mentality in science where data is concerned.

Hi Jim, I thought Id take a look at how the natural log cosine particle might work in terms of gravity. Ive got a 3d graphics program that lets one make waves. The problem is that it only allows amplitude modulation waves and not frequency modulated waves. Still, its good to show superposition of waves.

I took three particles and formed them into a right angled triangle. I made the sides three, four and five units. Then I ran a hundred frame animation of the waves travelling out from each of the points. The pattern formed is rather complex but theres an equilateral triangle of waves formed at the barycentre of the triangle. This starts off nearest the right angled point and travels until its centre is at the barycentre. Between the three points we have lenticular shapes that have wave fronts at right angles to the line between the two points.

When I altered the speed of the wave of one particle, the lenticular pattern could collapse to nothing and reform, in effect creating flat bottomed trench.

Thats a.m. interference. Remember I said that with the f.m natural log cosine particle the wave can move one way up to the number x = 1 and it goes the other way from one onwards. If the particle emits something the wave from zero to one travels outward at a relatively slow rate. The rest of the wave travels inwards at a much faster rate. That fits the bill for what gravity does. Those three particle would travel towards each other by surfing along a wave front.

Also this gravitational energy is vastly greater than e.m energy. When it superposes it creates that equilateral triangle out of tightly compressed waves that look like what we think of as virtual vacuum particles. This would mean that we never have such a thing as the three body problem.

Sloat, How can you dismiss the three body problem? Its what gravity is about mostly.
