I think it looks like proof of a unicorn....Actually, I'm almost certain.

Actually, you may have a point - orient the object about 70% to the right and you <b><i>do</b></i> have a unicorn - one of his front legs seems to be raised and his horn is projecting out of the mound!

Our learned friend Agorabasta has recently provided me with further analysis of the image. It seems I was quite in error in my initial conclusion that this was a gingerbread man. As you can plainly see, this is a face to rival the one at Cydonia. A little forlorn looking, but what can you expect when you're stuck out in the provinces?

Our old Gingerbread chum is still there, but now we better know of his primary job function and/or of his social status. Hence we can further speculate on the social structure of the advanced Martian society.
