Why I disagree with static eternal universe

Well if the universe is infinite how can we ad anything to it and from where is it getting the new energy from to sustain itself

I will not go into the muddy waters of mathematical proof, you can never prove infinity using finite human understanding, by whatever means we like

The best way for me is to look at the problem as a huge thought experiment

Maybe things should be put in two boxes one box for things that can be understood and one box for things we can't understand. Then I suppose the question would be: what question goes in which box? For me nothing about the universe is clear except its very large.

Jim,

You are an honest guy "We must know what we do not know" There are simply things that are beyond human comprehension, but that must not stop us debating around these mysteries of existence

God to me by the equates to Existence. God=Existence and Existence=God

I think that such a viewpoint will ultimately lead to a form of religious nihilism. This doesn't buy the baby a new pair of shoes, as they say. The big bang theory is a ball that's been patched up with so many arbitrary variables that it's become meaningless. Hanging on to it, on the basis that throwing it away might put god out of a job, is no way to do science.

Any and all infinities could put god out of a job. I doubt very much whether he/she is looking in the job vacancies just yet. In fact after Einstein told him that everything was relative, apart from the speed of light, I suspect he drew the curtains and pretended to be out.

Maybe in a couple of thousand years, someone might come up with an equation with god in it but not yet.

Stoat,

Yes an infinite universe would put god out of a job and this idea made the first wife of Steven Hawking divorce him, due to this blasphemy his wife thought he was preposing, she being a serious devoted Christain and all that.

But it might not put god out of a jop if the universe is God as many newagers think it is and bow and pray to this material thing

Existence the universe the multiuniverses must change and change needs time and time results in entropy and without a constant new introduction of an infinite amount of energy for an infinite universe to retain its low entropy it must run down and die.

So again, where is the infinite quantity of energy coming from to drive this huge infinite engine

Maybe there are an infinite number of universe within and infinite number of super universes down into the infinitesimal small quantum and upward into the infinite ever increasing macro and micro dimensions.

This is speculation , but grand exciting speculation to me and of course I am not the first to propose such a preposterous proposal am I?

Alan, How much entropy does a proton have? How much entropy in a neutron? How much entropy do you say an atom owns? How much was and will be the entropy of these three things way back and in the future?
