I think this is a good idea and it would add enormously to the value of the images being posted. Due to the inability of some of us to visualize some of the features being referenced in the discussions, It would also be nice to see a thumbnail of the same image with the feature annotated, so we will know exactly what is being referenced.

For example, I am not sure that I am seeing the cartoonish drawings to the left of the big "2", referred to by MS.

Good point, shando,

There are a lot of things like this that go back to the 'accurate communication' theme.

Ask yourself - do I want to actually show something to other minds? Or, do I just want to blow off some steam? As you do more to help a reader 'see', in her mind's eye, the thing(s) that you see in your mind's eye, you move closer to 'closing the deal' or 'making the sale'.

Selling ideas is not so different from selling socks or encyclopedias. In all cases, the more you can do to show the customer what is there (FROM THEIR POINT OF VIEW), the more likely you are to make a sale.

It's a lot like art.

Art is not, never has been, and never will be, about the artist. It is all, 100%, about the consumer of the art.

An artist paints something that says A. I buy his painting because it so obviously says B.

Does A = B? It can, but probably doesn't. I usually don't know and usually don't care. If I got a chance to talk to him about it, we would probably argue. And he would lose. (It's mine now, so it says B.)

This is part of why selling art and ideas is so hard.

Sorry, I did post this image a tad on the large size. I have reduced it and the discussion points show a little better now. I will take Shando's advice and indicate future imagery with better clarity.

Gentlmen, It does appear I maybe causing some difficulties here. I will back pedal somewhat and brush up on all of this and see if I can fulfill your wishes.

Thanks

Comments? Discussion?

If you assume a basic understanding of solving for one unknown, the instructions could be reduced to:

Make sure you retain the original [high] resolution when you download and crop.

On all measurements that you do on the monitor, make sure the image is set to 100%.

That insures our monitor measurements are using the same pixel size as the spaceship camera [at the object].

I wouldn't say that, Malcolm. What you posted is very interesting.

By the way, you were right, I'm never going to find the old style 3D glasses, so I just ordered them from Amazon.
