The footprint of the Opportunity We did not know.
The ground seems rocky, but the track seems more like a sandy soil. No sign of any stone ... ..
It also seemed "very orderly" in the footsteps of the six wheels of Opportunity ... and the pattern of the tracks also seemed very in sync ....

can see the drawing, and the trademark "smooth" and the detail of "relief" that are repeated in each "revolution" ...
A detailed field and track:

I understand that with this drawing, the pattern of the fingerprint should be repeated, but I was surprised when I started comparing the first trace (the one below, which is only "part supreior" that matches "geometric reliefs") the second, and were nearly equal ....
To my surprise, they agree very well form ... shadows and the occasional stone ....
Seen in the picture viewer of Windows media player, in sequence plan is seen quite well ...
Then a superposition of this huella1 with the 2 (the previous marks revolution or relief)

The "pebbles" on the ground over which the vehicle traveled are very uniform in size and distribution. Possible explanation: if a planet were to explode with a very high temperature, the ferric oxide would be literally vaporized. As the expanding, hot cloud cooled, the ferric oxide would condense into very uniform sized ferric oxide pebbles. If the cloud then engulfed Mars, the pebbles would "rain" down onto the surface.
One can create dust by grinding larger pieces but ending up with a wide variation in size. However, if dust is formed as a fume (vapor condensing into solid), then the size of the particles will be very uniform. This subject is well known in experimental chemistry, where laboratories contain fume hoods that suction off the offensive vapor/fume.

It amazes me that two cameras "last generation" photograph "two very different scenarios" ... ..
I am surprised, and much, that Google's images, not appreciated "that big black spot" ... ...
In the images of the ESA, see layers and shapes not seen in the images from google.
