VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE, AFRICA 2001

Eclipse Edge Expeditions proudly announces EXPEDITION Z’01, when our quest to view the TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE takes us to mighty Africa - and to one of the natural wonders of the world - Victoria Falls. Register to reserve your spot. 

The Expedition at a Glance
The total eclipse: Thursday, June 21 at 13h 12m GMT (about 3 p.m. local time), central line duration 3m 33s (of possible 4m 57s) plus 5-10s of edge phenomena before and after, altitude 30°above the horizon; at our site, 71s totality plus 1-2 minutes of edge phenomena before and after.
Location: Zimbabwe, Africa. At the edge of the Great Zambezi River after it’s plummet from the stunning Victoria Falls. We will view the Eclipse from an open wilderness area alive with African wildlife. Itinerary Overview: (8 days/7 nights + travel) 
June 14, Thursday: depart home country, fly to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe via Johannesburg, South Africa. 
June 15, Friday: Arrive in Victoria Falls and transfer to Mowana Safari Lodge in northern Botswana. Informal evening get-together for introductions and to collect programs, badges, etc. from Eclipse Edge hosts. Enjoy dinner and the peaceful lounge overlooking the river. 
June 16, Saturday: Safari Day! Two great 3-hour-long adventures in the morning and afternoon, including a game drive and a river cruise in a land that has all the game viewing experiences imaginable. Evening dinner and briefing by the pool. 
June 17, Sunday: Choose the sunrise or late morning game drive and/or river cruise. Afternoon transfer to Victoria Falls and check-in at the Kingdom hotel, the backyard of the magnificent Victoria Falls. 
June 18, Monday: Experience Victoria Falls Adventures! Take advantage of the many water related activities, such as white water rafting, bungee jumping, or ride on an elephant, in a tethered balloon, or in a helicopter (for a view of the falls). Evening group dinner on the banks of the Zambezi River with tribal dancing performance. 
June 19, Tuesday:  Visit the magnificent falls and souvenir shop at the crafts village. Evening astronomy program on the eclipse and other exciting new astronomical findings. 
June 20, Wednesday:  Motor coach transfer to Kariba. Evening stargazing on Lake Kariba. 
June 21, Thursday:  Eclipse Day! Drive to sight via motor coaches. View eclipse and celebrate on a luxurious hilltop residence with outdoor picnic, overlooking the river. 
June 22, Friday: Depart Kariba to return to home country. 
Estimated cost: $3500 per person, double occupancy originating at Washington, DC; or $2450 pp double occupancy originating at Johannesburg. Shorter program also available for $3000 pp (double) from Washington, or $1750 pp (double) originating at Johannesburg.**

** Return flight is now full. Late-joiners may need to stay one extra day at a modest extra cost.
